CAPF TO BE DEPLOYED IN 2280 CRITICAL BOOTHS: ODISHA DGP
Bhubaneswar(31/05/2024): The 7th Phase of election in national level and 4th phase (last phase) for Odisha will be held tomorrow.
The previous 3 Phases of poll for 15 parliamentary constituencies and 105 assembly constituencies were completed in a peaceful manner without any serious or alarming incident.
There was massive voter turnout also.
In the last 3 Phases, poll was held in more than 26000 booths and there was re-poll only in two booths under Kantamala assembly constituency of Boudh district.
The 7th Phase Poll-( 4th and last phase for Odisha) 6 PCs and 42 ACs in 9 police districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack Rural, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Cuttack UPD (110 booths of Niali and Salipur AC) are going to Poll on 01.06.2024.
None of the above districts are naxal affected.
Many Assembly segments are sensitive from law & order point of view.
In a press conference on Friday, DGP Arun Sarangi informed that four assembly segments are communally sensitive.
The intensity of political hostility having bearing on law and order situation in this last phase of poll has increased.
There are some incidents of pre-poll violence.
Police response and police action have been prompt.
The situation is not alarming. The number of Polling Stations is 10882 and number of Polling Station Locations is 8752. Highlighting that around 21% of the booths are sensitive booths, the DGP said, "Sensitivity is being reassessed regularly.
Many more booths are considered sensitive because of emerging political hostility.
Total Manpower to be utilized during election is 36000 which includes 126 Coys of CAPF, 86 platoons of Odisha Armed Police and 20500 civil police personnel. Besides, 44 Additional SsP, 99 DSsP, 210 Inspectors, 2583 SI/ASI, 9476 Havildar & Constables, 8083 Home Guards & GRs, 4 young IPS Officers of SDPO rank are mobilized for Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak and Balasore districts. This apart, 12 young direct DSP have been mobilised. Total 42 Assembly Supervising Officers in the rank of Additional SP with striking force have been deployed and 84 DSsP will supervise the law and order (2 for each assembly segment) with striking force. A total of 199 Sector Officers in the rank of Inspector with striking force.
(Each assembly constituency is divided into around 5 Sectors), one to half section CAPF in all sensitive booths.
CAPF will be deployed in 2280 critical/ vulnerable booths." The number of Mobile Parties is 843.
Additional 130 mobile by CAPF Company Commander/ Deputy Commandant will oversee their AoR. Inter State Border Check Posts in both Districts 21 with live streaming of CCTV.
West Bengal & Jharkhand have similar mirror check posts 19 on their side. There are 60 Inter Districts Border Check Posts.
Total 255 Flying Squad Teams and 255 Static Surveillance Teams have been deployed. For each Parliament Constituency, there is one Police observer of ECI.
Besides there is Special Police Observer for the state. A total of 36 election related cases have been registered in the districts going to poll on 01.06.2024.
Actions have been taken against 49 accused persons .
