CM NAVEEN PATNAIK PERFORMS GROUNDBREAKING OF GREEN FUEL PROJECTS BY ACME & AVAADA AT GOPALPUR INDUSTRIAL PARK
Bhubaneswar(14/02/2024: In a ceremony attended by a large gathering at Gopalpur, Ganjam, Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik, laid the foundation stone for two green fuel projects by Acme Cleantech Solutions Private Limited and Avaada Green H2 Private Limited. Acme Cleantech Solutions is setting up a 1.10 MMTPA Green Ammonia Plant, with an investment of Rs 27,000 crores and is projected to create employment for about 4,000 people.
Avaada Green H2 Private Limited, with its Rs 8,000 crores investment for a 0.5 MTPA green hydrogen/ammonia facility, will provide job opportunities for 1,500 individuals.
With the commencement of these two green fuel projects, Odisha embarks on a new era of sustainable industrial development.
The Chief Minister highlighted the role of these projects in not just achieving green growth but also bolstering the local employment and skills ecosystem in the state.
He said, “While the projects by ACME and Avaada will make Odisha the pioneer state in the Green Fuels sector, more importantly, these new-age sectors are going to be highly beneficial for the youth of this region.
The ITIs in Berhampur, Hinjilicut, Sheragada, Purusottampur, and others in this region will be put to use for upskilling and imparting new age skills to young boys and girls of Ganjam and nearby areas.
Similarly, high-tech and professional institutions like the Parala Maharaj Engineering College, Government Polytechnic, Berhampur, J N Tata Technical Education Center, Gopalpur, and others are going to benefit immensely due to the presence of such renowned companies.” Talking about the impact of new-age industries on SMEs in the region, the Chief Minister said, “The setting up of industries in new-age and future-oriented sectors like green fuels is going to catalyze the growth of MSMEs in this region.
The MSMEs with get newer opportunities to become vendors and participate in the supply chain networks of these companies.
This will open up numerous new avenues of growth for budding entrepreneurs in Ganjam and South Odisha.” The Chief Minister also highlighted that IDCO has started the construction of a 600-meter Utility Corridor for Rs 128.88 Crores that will connect the Gopalpur Industrial Park to the Gopalpur Port.
This is expected to further enhance the attractiveness of the industrial park and catalyze new investments in this region. The Gopalpur Industrial Park run by Tata Steel SEZ was established nearly a decade ago.
While it has attracted a few industries in the past, it is in the last couple of years particularly after the Make in Odisha Conclave 2022 that the park has started witnessing a lot more interest from investors across sectors.
This has been driven mainly by the progressive Odisha Industrial Policy Resolution 2022, the renewed focus on industrial infrastructure, and the proactive actions of the state government. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister of Odisha, V K Pandian, Chairman 5T Initiatives, senior management from ACME and AVAADA, Senior Officials from Government of Odisha signifying a collective commitment towards new-age industries and employment generation opportunities in Odisha.
