Cuttack District Administration declares both upper & lower Bali Yatra grounds as ‘No Drone Zone’ areas

Cuttack(By Abhishek Mohanty): The Cuttack District Administration has declared both the upper and lower Bali Yatra grounds as ‘No Drone Zone’ areas from November 1 to 15, ahead of the much-awaited historic Bali Yatra, which will be held from November 5 to 12 on the banks of the Mahanadi River.

According to the order issued by district officials, flying of drones, hot air balloons, paragliders, paramotors, and microlight aircraft within a 5-kilometre radius of the fairgrounds will be strictly prohibited during the period. The restrictions have been imposed as a security measure to ensure the safety of lakhs of visitors expected to attend the annual trade and cultural festival.

“The decision aims to prevent any potential security threats and to maintain airspace safety during the event,” an official from the district administration said.

Bali Yatra, one of the largest open-air trade fairs in Asia, commemorates the ancient maritime glory of Odisha when Sadhabas (ancient Odia sailors) set sail to distant lands like Bali, Java, and Sumatra for trade and cultural exchange. The fair attracts lakhs of visitors from across the state and beyond every year.

Security arrangements have been tightened, and CCTV surveillance, along with drone monitoring by authorized personnel, will be in place to ensure smooth conduct of the event.

Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals violating the ‘No Drone Zone’ directive.
