Discussion on Dinakrushna Held on the Seventh Day of 'Bhasapakshya' by Odia Bhasa Vikash Andolan (OBBA)

Balasore, 04/05 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): On the seventh day of Bhashapaksha, observed by the 'Odia Bhasa Vikash Andolan' (OBBA), a special discussion titled “Kabi Dinakrushna” was held under the moderation of actor Niranjan Rout.

Dr. Harishchandra Behera, the keynote speaker, offered an in-depth reflection on Dinakrushna’s literary contributions. While the Bhagavata often sidelines Radha, Dinakrushna places her at the center of his Rasakallola. Dr. Behera highlighted his innovative use of alliteration with the consonant "ka," the emotional depth of bhaktirasa, and the portrayal of his poetic heroine in the style of classical Sanskrit literature—hallmarks of Dinakrushna’s unique poetic style. He also touched on his compositions beyond poetry—chaupadi, bhajan, janana, chautisha, olata chautisha, and mythological narratives—that moved the audience deeply.

Dr. Laxmikanta Tripathy, another speaker, shed light on some lesser-known works of Dinakrushna, including texts like Vaidya Shastra, Bhootakeli, Nabakeli, Alankara Boli, Yamapurana, Sansarabodha, and Prastab Sindhu, offering philosophical interpretations. Speakers emphasized that John Beames' initial observations on Dinakrushna laid the foundation for serious literary criticism in Odia literature.

Joint editor Shantilata Panda welcomed the guests to the stage, while co-editor Jumaranath Patra delivered the opening remarks. Poet Kalyani Nanda recited Dinakrushna’s soulful Arttatrana Chautisha and gave a heartfelt vote of thanks.

Among other dignitaries present were Dr. Shirishchandra Jena, Aruna Ray, Rajendranath Raut, Sarat Kumar Mahapatra, Pandit Sanjay Kumar Panda, Dr. Kshitishwar Dash, Ashwini Kumar Satapathy, Deepak Bose, Kavita Jena, Urmila Nayak, Madhusudan Majhi, Mahendra Prasad Panigrahi, Sunamani Jena, Dr. Sarangadhar Tripathy, Prafulla Kumar Das, Yogesh Chandra Pradhan, Lambodara Nayak, Karunakar S., Kamalakanta Dash, Ramesh Chandra Jena, Deepak Das, Manmath Kumar Sahu, Shanti Bishi, Pushpalata Chakrabarty, Narendranath Panigrahi, Nityananda Raut, Ramakanta Mohanty, Mamata Das, Krishna Pradhan, Anadi Charan Jena, and Avantika Pradhan.
