Nuakhai in Odisha to be observed on August 29

Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): The Odisha government declared August 29 as public holiday on the occasion of Nuakhai, the agrarian festival widely celebrated across western Odisha.

According to a notification issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, all government offices, magisterial courts and educational institutions will remain closed on that day.
Since this year’s festival falls on August 29, the state government has decided that second Saturday of the month, will now be observed as working day. This adjustment has been made to balance out the declared holiday and ensure smooth functioning of government offices and administrative work.
