Three labourers die, two injured in mishap during bridge construction work

Cuttack (03/05/2025): At least three labourers were crushed to death and two others sustained critical injuries after a cement concrete slab fell on them at Khan Nagar in Cuttack district on Saturday. The incident occurred when a concrete slab attached to a crane fell from an under-construction bridge.

Following the mishap, five labourers working at the site got stuck under the slab.

The injured were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, where the doctors declared three of them dead. The deceased have been identified as Soumya Ranjan Behera, Siba Shankar Patnaik and Subash Chandra Bhakta.

All the labourers were engaged in construction of a bridge over the Kathajodi River.
