District-Level Paddy Procurement Committee Meeting Held for 2024–25 Rabi Season in Balasore
Balasore, 29/04 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): A district-level Paddy Procurement Committee meeting for the 2024–25 marketing year (Rabi season) was held at the auditorium hall of the District Collector’s office in Balasore, under the chairmanship of Collector Suryabanshi Mayur Vikas.
The meeting was attended by Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Government Chief Whip and Remuna MLA Gobinda Chandra Das, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Narayan Pradhan, Soro MLA Madhab Dandha, Simulia MLA Padmalochan Panda, Bhograi MLA Gautambuddha Das, Jaleswar MLA Ashwini Kumar Patra, Basta MLA Smt. Subasini Jena, Chief Supply Officer and District Coordinator Salauddin Khan, Additional District Magistrates Sudhakar Nayak (General) and Hemanta Singh (Revenue), Sub-Collector of Balasore Prathamesh Arvind Rajesirke, DRCS, and officials from various agriculture-related departments.
The meeting involved detailed discussions on the objectives and goals of the paddy procurement process. The MLAs emphasized the need to ensure that farmers in their constituencies receive the appropriate Minimum Support Price (MSP). Topics discussed included necessary decisions and their implementation, proper functioning of procurement centres (mandis), appointment of nodal and supervising officers, sealing of borders, arrangement of FAQ-compliant equipment, cleaning systems, and tolerance for foreign matter in paddy up to a maximum of 17%.
It was revealed in the meeting that for the current 2024–25 Rabi season, the district aims to procure approximately 19,78,040 quintals of paddy from 47,486 registered farmers.
