Fruit stalls, eateries raided in Bhubaneswar amid diarrhoea scare

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Amid diarrhoea scare, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Food Safety Department on Monday conducted raids on food stalls, hotels and eateries in the city.

Roadside fruit selling shops and small restaurants near SUM Hospital were inspected by the officials. Stale fish, discoloured food items and expired bread were seized and destroyed during the raid.

A fine of Rs 3,000 was imposed on a hotel for allegedly preparing stale food. 

Several vendors were warned for operating in unhygienic conditions.
Recently, diarrhoea outbreaks were reported from Niladri Vihar and an apartment near Ghatikia areas.
