Odisha to become growth engine of developed India: Governor

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): The Budget Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly commenced on Tuesday with Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati delivering the inaugural address, beginning with the customary greeting, “Jai Jagannath.”

In his address, the Governor emphasised that Odisha is poised to become the growth engine of a developed India. 

He highlighted that the state will mark 100 years of its formation in 2036 and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a prosperous Odisha.

Governor Kambhampati noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha has been receiving major central government projects. He also announced plans to establish the state as a semiconductor hub under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
On infrastructure, the Governor said road modernization is underway, with a flyover planned on the Jaydev Vihar–Nandankanan route.

He stressed the government’s dedication to strengthening the state’s foundational infrastructure.
The Governor stated that the special emphasis has been placed for the development of IT, industries and semiconductor. More employment will be generated in semiconductor sector, he added.

The two-phase Budget Session will see Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presenting the state budget on February 20.
