ODISHA WITNESSED 2,394 CYBER FRAUDS IN LAST 6 MONTHS
Bhubaneswar (11/07/2024): At least 2,394 cases of cyber fraud have been reported from different parts of Odisha in last six months. During the month of January to June 2024, 2,394 cases have been reported in several police stations with the fraud amount rising to around Rs 36 crore.
This was informed by Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda on Thursday. Police have freezed Rs 9.5 crore and returned Rs 46 lakh to the victims. Police Commissioner said, "Most of the cyber fraud cases have occurred through UPI fraud, social media, parcel delivery, credit card delivery, and sending messages about SIM KYC. The Commissionerate Police have arrested 21 cyber fraudsters and produced them before court.
Five of them are members of inter-state cyber frauds.
