Play ecofriendly Holi with Green Queen of Odisha

Holi is one of the most celebrated festivals in India. People across the communities, gender and age play Holi. 

Different colours made out of many toxic chemicals are available in the market.

People are not aware of how these toxic colours could be dangerous and hazardous wehn apllied on your skin, eys, hair or enters your mouth. 

These colours are not only hazardous, but can also seriously casue damage to our environment, including water, soil and air. 

For last 6 years Priyadarsini Das, popularly known as the "Green Queen of Odisha" has been preparing eco-friendly natural colours from different plant sources like Anato seed, Palas flower, Marigold flower, Beetroot, Pomegrante rind, Indigo, different leafs like Spinach, Neem, Bel, Heena, etc.  She also prepares colour out of anthill soil of different colours, Multani Soil, etc. 

The women residents of Star Club Apartment in Bhubaneswar where Priyadarsini lives, join hand in collecting and preparing different coulours before Holi and all the residents of the Apartment play Holi with that natural colours. They prepare these colours to create awareness about the benifits of ecofriendly colours and how easy it is to make these colours from locally available materials. 

Her initiative has been a motivating factors for other communities and residents living in different localities who have also started adopting ecofriendly Holi.
