TRAFFIC ASIS CANNOT COLLECT FINES & ISSUE E-CHALLANS IN ODISHA

Bhubaneswar (22/11/2023): The Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) has withdrawn the power of Traffic Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs) to collect fines and issue e-challans under the Motor Vehicles Act. The direction was issued in the wake of several allegations about traffic police personnel collecting fines illegally from bikers. A letter informing about the decision was written by the STA to all the regional and additional regional transport officers of Rairangpur, Barbil and Khordha.
