The Chief Secretary informed about all other agenda items approved in the Cabinet.
Total 16 Agenda (1 related to assembly) of 7 departments were presented and all have been approved in the Cabinet.
The Cabinet approved enhancement in Corpus Fund for procurement and prepositioning of fertilizers in the state.
Presently, about 20 to 25 percent of the total fertilizer requirement of the state procured and prepositioned through Odisha State Cooperative Marketing Federation (OSCMF) and Odisha Agro Industries Corporation (OAIC).
For this purpose, the state government is providing corpus fund as interest free loan of Rs 90 crore and Rs 10 crore to OSCMF and OAIC, respectively.
Considering the present fertilizer scenario in the state and taking into account the volume and mode of fertilizer business of both the agencies, the provision of corpus fund for OSCMF Limited was enhanced from 90 crore to Rs 150 crore/year (excluding current year 2023-24) and the provision for OAIC was dropped off from the year 2024-25.
In view of the enhancement, the State Cabinet has approved the estimated budget of Rs 700 crore for five years from 2023-24 to 2027-28.
Considering the enhancement, it is targeted to preposition fertilizers to a tune of 50 percent of the state requirement through OSCMF and it's availability to the farmers at right time and right price through authorised retailers, mainly cooperative societies. The government has decided to sign MoU with Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) for establishment of a world class educational campus of NMIMS University in Bhubaneswar.
This significant initiative is designed to elevate the standard of higher education in the state and create new opportunities for academic excellence.
