‘Ṣoḍaśa’ Story Collection by Fiction Writer Gangadhar Biswal Unveiled

Balasore, 20/4 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty) — On Friday evening, the much-anticipated story collection ‘Ṣoḍaśa’ by acclaimed fiction writer Gangadhar Biswal was officially unveiled at the APCL Conference Hall in Balasore.

The launch ceremony, presided over by poet Prashanta Das, saw poet Krushna Kumar Mohanty as the chief guest. In his address, Mohanty highlighted how Gangadhar’s stories are deeply rooted in life experiences, often revealing that the author himself is both the storyteller and the story.

Other esteemed guests included poet Utpal Mohanty, editor of Seiṭhū Ārambha magazine Shubhendu Das, president of Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad Dr. Subash Chandra Patra, and Samarendra Bihari, Deputy Chairman of HDFC Bank, who all joined in unveiling the book.

It was widely noted that Gangadhar's personal insights breathe life into his narratives, allowing readers to connect easily. Every writer aspires to convey their thoughts and perspectives through their work in a way that touches both the mind and heart of the reader—something Gangadhar achieves with sensitivity and style. The title ‘Ṣoḍaśa’ (meaning sixteen) itself, guests said, is sure to spark interest and discussion.

The author shared insights into the themes and components of his stories, while poet Sitanshu Lenka offered reflections from a publisher’s point of view. Noted literary critic Dr. Shirish Chandra Jena and Head of the Odia Department at Fakir Mohan Autonomous College, Dr. Santosh Kumar Nayak, also expressed their perspectives on Gangadhar’s literary style.

The event began with a welcome speech and introduction of the guests by Gitika Yogasmita Biswal, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Gitika Jyotiparna Biswal.

It is worth noting that prior to ‘Ṣoḍaśa’, published by Pakshighara, Gangadhar Biswal has already brought out 15 story collections, all well-received by readers.

The book launch was attended by a vibrant literary audience, including poet Abhaya Das, novelist Sruṭidhara Parida, writer Dr. Lakshmikant Tripathy, fiction writers Nibaran Jena, Sanjaya Panda, Rajesh Giri, Madhusudan Mishra, and Priyambada Mohanty, among others.
