Odisha celebrates Maha Bisuba Sankranti with religious fervour
Bhubaneswar(14/04/2025): Maha Bisuba Sankranti or Pana Sankranti, is being celebrated on Monday across Odisha with religious fervour.
The new Odia almanac comes into effect on this day.
People across the state thronged various temples including Puri Srimandir and Ram Mandir (Bhubaneswar) and Siruli Mahavir temple (Puri) to offer prayers to Lord Hanuman on Hanuman Jayanti. Chanting of Hanuman Chalisha was organised at several temples in Bhubaneswar. Special rituals were performed at the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri. A large number of devotees also thronged the Maa Tarini Temple in Ghatagaon of Keonjhar district to witness the 'Suna Besha' of the goddess on the auspicious occasion of Maha Bisuba Sankranti. To mark the Odia New Year, a sweet concoction called ‘Pana’ was prepared by mixing different types of fruits, water, milk, pulp of bela, sugar and curd, and distributed among one and all at temples and houses .
