90% voter mapping completed in Odisha, says Odisha CEO

Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty):
Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Odisha has achieved significant progress, with around 90% voter mapping completed, according to the state’s Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha RS Gopalan on Friday.

Gopalan informed that authorities have been able to trace nearly 90% of voters listed in the 2025 electoral roll and match them with records from the 2002 voter list. The mapping process aims to verify and link voters across the two lists to ensure accuracy in the electoral database.

Citizens whose names appear in the 2025 voter list and were also registered in 2002 have been asked to inform their respective Booth Level Officer (BLO) and specify the constituency where they were enrolled in 2002.

He said the remaining 10% of cases are more challenging to map, particularly in urban areas, where voter mobility and address changes are higher.

For individuals whose names did not appear in the 2002 voter list, officials stated that records of their parents may be checked for verification.

The election office has set a target of achieving 95% mapping, which officials believe will help streamline the voter verification process and improve the accuracy of electoral rolls in the state.
