Cargo ship catches fire at Paradip Port
Paradip(By Abhishek Mohanty): A cargo ship went up in flames at Paradip Port in Jagatsinghpur district in the early hours of Sunday.
The incident occurred while thermal coal was being loaded onto the bulk carrier Eco Colonel Monorvia at one of the port berths.
Port authorities quickly moved the vessel to a different berth to safely unload the remaining coal and stop the fire from spreading.
No crew members, dock workers, or emergency personnel were harmed.
Port officials stated that thermal coal can occasionally heat up on its own due to factors like self-oxidation, moisture trapped inside, or insufficient ventilation in cargo holds or stockpiles.
