SOLO ODISSI DANCE MESMERISED AUDIENCE DURING UDAYARAGA 2024 PRESENTED BY ORISSA DANCE ACADEMY

Bhubaneswar(20/05/2024): Udayaraga 2024 - Celebrating the spirit of the youth organised by Orissa Dance Academy, a leading cultural organisation of Odisha founded by Guru Gangadhara Pradhan led by Guru Dr.Aruna Mohanty was held at Utkal Rangamancha, GKCM Odissi Research Centre campus, Bhubaneswar.
The main objective of organizing Udayaraga is to celebrate the spirit of the youth in the form of Odissi dance. Evening's first Solo Odissi dance was performed by Shreepunya Mohanty, an emerging name in the field of Odissi dance.
Her first item was Jagannatha Sahasranama, a beautiful invocation of Lord Jagannath.The dance was choreographed by Padmashree Guru Dr.Aruna Mohanty, music composed by Agnimitra Behera and rhythm composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain.Shreepunya's last item was Banshee Swanna, the sound of the magical flute of Krishna, mesmerizes Radha, the supreme beloved, who gets enchanted by the melody of the flute and deeply falling in love.The dance was choreographed by Guru Dr.Aruna Mohanty, music composed by Guru Gopal Chandra Panda and rhythm composed by Guru Bijay Kumar Barik. Second Odissi Solo dance performed by Samir Kumar Panigrahi, who is one of the leading dancer and the disciple of Guru Bichitrananda Swain of Rudrakshya Foundation.He was presented Priye Charusheele, the true love of Radha and Krishna depicted from Jaydeva’s Geeta Govindam.The dance choreographed by Guru Bichitrananda Swain, music composed by Guru Ramahari Das and rhythm composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain. Next presentation was Rasa Viraha set to Raga Kalyan and Tala Jhampa the portrayal of Basi Mo Hoila Phula Sheja written by Kavi Samrat Upendra Bhanja presented by Sasmita Panda, one of the young and promising Odissi dancer and member of internationally acclaimed Gunjan Dance repertory.The music composed by Srinivas Satpathy, rhythm composed by Sachidanand Das and dance choreographed by Guru Meera Das. Next Odissi dance performed by Internationally acclaimed Odissi dancer Rajashri Praharaj of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Gharana and reputed soloist and lead repertory member of the Srjan Ensemble, she is presently senior faculty for Odissi dance at Srjan, Bhubaneswar.She was presented Sita Harana, the story taken from the epic Ramayana set to Raga-Raga Malika and Tala - Tala Malika.The dance was choreographed by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. Next performer was Bijan Kumar Palai, a teacher and performer of Orissa Dance Academy.He was presented Sundarakanda from Balmiki Ramayan.The Dance Choreographed by Guru Aruna Mohanty, music composed by Sukanta Kumar Kundu and rhythm composed by Bijaya Kumar Barik. Shashwati Garai Ghosh, a soloist, a choreographer, a performer, and a teacher - her body of work speaks of grace, vigour and honest sensibilities that brings uniqueness to her style presented Surpanakha choreographed by Guru Sharmila Biswas and music composed by Prafulla Kar with Suramani Ramesh Chandra Das, Bijay Kumar Barik and Sukanta Kundu.Last presentation of the evening was made by Rahul Acharya one of the most loved and popular Odissi soloist in the International arena presented Shivashtaka, compilation of eight verses in praise of Lord Shiva set to Raga-Bhairavi and Tala – Ektali.a soloist, a choreographer, a performer, and a teacher – Her body of work speaks of grace, vigour and honest sensibilities that brings uniqueness to her style he dance choreographed by Late Guru Deba Prasad Das and Guru Durga Charan Ranbir. The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Madhavi Mudgal, Sharmila Biswas, Sikata Das, Meera Das, Sahana Das, Ratikanta Mohapatra, Bichitrananda Swain, Shehaprava Samantaray, Meenakhi Behera, Guru Dr.Aruna Mohanty and Prabodh Kumar Rath, Secretary Odisha Sangita Natak Akademi.The event was coordinated by Pramod Kumar Rout and compared by Ananya Parida .
