Veteran Social Activist Rebati Jena Passes Away at 82
Rebati Jena, a noted social activist and respected elder, passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday, February 9, 2026. Her demise has cast a pall of grief among family members, social circles, and the media fraternity.
Her final rites were performed at Swargadwara, Puri, where a large number of relatives, well-wishers, journalists, and social activists gathered to pay their last respects.
Late Rebati Jena was the mother of Dr. Satyabrata jena, Executive Editor of The Common Times, and Debabrata Jena, OTV reporter from Sundargarh. Family members including Smt. Rashmi Priya Das, Ayush Jena, Anuska Jena, Piyush Jena, Pratyush Jena, Akankshya Das, Adyasa Das, Santoshini Jena, and Injulata Jena were present during the cremation.
Several eminent personalities attended the final rites, including Dr. Sashi S. Samant,Babloo nayak, Mamata Swain, The Common Times Editor Banamali Sahoo, Bajrakila Editor, and senior journalists Tuna Sutar, Sudhir Nayak, and Susama Nayak, among others.
