Kamalakanta Jena assumes charge as Controller of Examinations, Fakir Mohan University
Balasore, 10 February 2026 — In pursuance of Notification No. HE-GCET-MISC-0363-2024/5616/HE dated 02.02.2026 issued by the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha, Dr. Kamalakanta Jena—renowned science writer and Assistant Professor (Stage-III) of Physics at Bhadrak Autonomous College—assumed charge as the Controller of Examinations of Fakir Mohan University on Monday, 9 February 2026. In the recent past, he was also elected as a member of the University Senate.
Dr. Jena received his early education at Remuna High School and Fakir Mohan College, and pursued higher studies at the P.G. Department of Physics, Utkal University (Vani Vihar).
He earned his Doctoral degree in Physics from Fakir Mohan University. Joining the Odisha Education Service in 1999, he began his teaching career at Sundargarh Government College.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to popular science writing and dissemination of scientific knowledge, Dr. Jena has been honoured with more than fifty awards from esteemed institutions including Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad, Lok Sevak Mandal, Utkal Sahitya Samaja, Odisha Science Academy, Akashvani, Vigyan Prachar Samiti, Odisha I.T. Fair, and Uttsav Uttar Odisha, among others. He has authored over 1,500 popular science articles published in leading newspapers and magazines, and has presented more than eighty science programmes on radio and over twenty on television.
