5,000 crore Subhadra funds to be credited to women beneficiaries on International Women’s Day


Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): The Subhadra Yojana will see disbursal of more than Rs 5,000 crore to women beneficiaries on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8.

Informing this on Saturday, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also holds the Women and Child Development portfolio, said that 1,02,12,665 women beneficiaries will receive financial assistance under the scheme. She added that a total of 1,12,57,667 women had applied to avail benefits.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will launch the disbursal of the second instalment of funds during a programme at Talabania in Puri on Sunday. The financial assistance will be credited directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Parida further stated that 2,13,198 new beneficiaries will receive assistance for the first time. Additionally, 36,385 applicants who had submitted grievances through the scheme’s portal will also receive benefits.
This marks the second instalment under the scheme. 

According to the guidelines, the first instalment of Rs 5,000 is released on Raksha Bandhan, while the second instalment is disbursed on International Women’s Day each year.
Under the scheme, each eligible woman is entitled to receive Rs 10,000 annually.
