Odisha government dismisses fuel shortage rumours

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): The Odisha government on Saturday assured citizens that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel in the state, urging people not to panic over rumours circulating in some media outlets.

Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said fuel stocks are adequate at petrol pumps across Odisha and that the recent rise in global oil prices due to Middle East tensions will not immediately affect local supplies.

“There is no scarcity of petrol or diesel anywhere in the state. Rumours about shortages are baseless and causing unnecessary concern,” Patra told reporters.

He advised vehicle owners to refill as usual and warned that hoarding or black marketing of fuel would not be tolerated.

The Minister also confirmed that essential commodities, including rice and other food grains, are sufficiently stocked.

Public sector oil companies Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) have similarly dismissed claims of fuel shortages.

BPCL described the reports as “completely unfounded,” while IOCL said supply and distribution networks are functioning normally nationwide.

Patra urged the public to rely only on official government sources for information and avoid spreading unverified reports.
